Learning Through Celebration: Valentine’s Day and Lunar New Year in the PYP

The PYP community recently celebrated two meaningful holidays: St. Valentine’s Day and Lunar New Year, turning both occasions into rich learning experiences.

For St. Valentine’s Day, students dressed in red and pink, exploring kindness, empathy, and appreciation, and developing the Learner Profile attributes of being Caring and Communicators.

During Lunar New Year, they wore traditional colors such as red and gold while inquiring into cultural traditions and symbols, strengthening their understanding as Inquirers, Open-Minded, and Knowledgeable learners.

Both celebrations supported the development of key skills while fostering respect, collaboration, and global awareness, reminding us that every celebration in the PYP is also an opportunity to grow.
