ASAS Begins the New Academic Year with Two Meaningful Celebrations: Parents and Students at the Heart of Our Community

The beginning of a new academic year at the American School of Advanced Studies (ASAS) was marked by two important events, each reflecting one of the school’s most essential pillars: our parents and our students. Together, these gatherings set the tone for a year built on partnership, purpose, belonging, and new opportunities.

A Strong Beginning: ASAS Meets Its Parents

On 11 September, ASAS Principal George Zedginidze and the ASAS teaching team welcomed parents for the first parent meeting of the academic year. The meeting provided an opportunity to share important school updates, priorities, expectations, and action plans for the year ahead.  One of the most valuable parts of the meeting was the opportunity for parents to share their reflections, expectations, questions, and suggestions. Their voices are an essential part of the ASAS community, and the open dialogue reinforced the idea that education is most successful when school and family work together toward a common purpose.

A New Year, New Beginnings, New Opportunities

On 14 September, it was time for the students to take center stage as ASAS officially welcomed the new academic year with a vibrant and inspiring theme “ New  Academic Year, New Beginnings, New Opportunities,” the celebration brought students, teachers, and staff together to begin the year with energy and optimism.  The assembly featured a rich programme combining Georgian cultural heritage, music, student leadership, reflection, and academic excellence. The event opened with the Georgian traditional dances, followed by a welcome address from Principal George Zedginidze, who also introduced the new members of the ASAS faculty.

The assembly also presented the 2026–2027 Student Life Action Plan, welcomed new students to the ASAS community, and highlighted the many activities, projects, and achievements of the previous academic year. Musical performances by Roena Vadachkoria, Anastasia Gogoladze, Nita Dadunashvili, and Elizabeth Shenkel added a celebratory atmosphere to the event.

A special part of the programme was dedicated to student voices and leadership, including reflections from new students and advice from alumna Mariam Khurodze.

The celebration concluded with the Principal’s Distinguished Academic Achievement Award, recognizing students for outstanding academic performance and setting an inspiring tone for the year ahead.

One Community, Shared Purpose

Although the two events were different in character, they communicated the same essential message: ASAS is a community built around people. Parents provide partnership and support. Teachers provide guidance and inspiration. Students bring curiosity, creativity, leadership, and energy. When these three elements come together, education becomes much more than what happens inside a classroom.

A new academic year has begun. New ideas are emerging, new leaders are stepping forward, and new possibilities are waiting to be explored. At ASAS, we are ready to make it a year of learning, leadership, connection, and growth.
