“Books for Everyone”: A Student-Led Initiative Bringing Knowledge and Hope to Communities
On December 26, A meaningful and deeply emotional meeting was held at the public school of the village of Tirdznisi, in the Shida Kartli region near the occupation line, within the framework of Nodar Chelidze’s project “Books for Everyone.”
Initiated by Nodar and supported by his friends, students of the American School of Advanced Studies (ASAS), part of the European School, collected and donated books to the children of Tirdznisi. The initiative once again highlighted ASAS’s educational philosophy—raising socially responsible young people who strive not only for personal success but also to become conscientious and engaged citizens of their country.
During the meeting, writer and well-known public figure Giorgi Kekelidze spoke about empathy, solidarity, and the vital importance of reading. His words left a lasting impression on attendees:
“A person can look down on another only when they are helping them stand up.”
The Dean of ASAS, Ms. Natia Tevdzadze, also addressed the audience, emphasizing the transformative power of knowledge and reading, and expressing gratitude to the hosts for their warm welcome. The school principal of Tirdznisi, Ms. Dali, conveyed heartfelt appreciation to the European School and ASAS for their support and solidarity.
Appreciation was also expressed to Giorgi Kekelidze for his involvement, to the remarkable children of Tirdznisi, and to the ASAS students whose generosity made the day possible.
The December 26 meeting served as a powerful reminder that knowledge is strength, books are bridges, and solidarity is the greatest value of all. The initiative launched by our student Nodar will continue in the future, as he has ambitious and inspiring plans ahead. Building on the success of the Books for Everyone project, Nodar aims to expand the initiative to reach more schools and communities, further promoting access to books, knowledge, and equal educational opportunities. His vision reflects a strong commitment to social responsibility and demonstrates how youth-led initiatives can create meaningful and lasting impact.
