Human Rights Week-2021

On December 6-10, Human Rights Week, initiated and organized by the American High School student Anastasia Tskvitinidze, was conducted at the European School. Within the week, public lectures, discussions, meetings were held on actual themes: Violence Against Children, Importance of the Human Rights Day, Development of Human Rights, Human Rights in Literature, Gender Equality in Literature, Right to Education for Children from Occupied Territories of Georgia.
Throughout the week, the AHS students met the professor of classical philology Levan Gigineishvili, literary scholar Levan Berdzenishvili, guests from the Office of Public Defender (Ombudsman) of Georgia, Child Protection Officer from UNICEF, Advisor of the State Minister of Georgia for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Lia Gigauri.
The students opened Human Rights Corner at the ES Library where they displayed human rights-related publications in both English and Georgian Languages donated by the international organizations and funds invited within the framework of the Human Rights Week.
Above mentioned events and activities helped students to acknowledge the role of human rights in a democratic society. They supported students to promote fundamental freedoms, human dignity, and equality.
