American High School European History Class Visits the Fine Arts Museum, Tbilisi
14 Dec 2017On Tuesday, December 12, nine American High School Grade 10 European History students with their teacher Mr. Joseph Blake, and Homeroom Teacher Mr. Giorgi Tchumburidze toured the Fine Arts Museum near Liberty Square. The guided tour included ancient Georgian gold jewelry, historical religious relics, icons, church vestments, copies of famed frescos from various Georgian Orthodox churches, and ancient Greek and Roman statues. Nana Kvernadze stated “The attractions were great.”
Professor Manana Pkhakadze’s Lecture
13 Dec 2017On Monday, December 11, American High School students from Grades 8, 9, 10, 11 attended and participated in a discussion and presentation organized by Georgian teachers Ms. Ketevan Gardapkhadze and Dr. Eka Kobakhidze in the Prague Conference Room. Dr. Manana Pkhakadze, a lecturer at Tbilisi State University explained the significance regarding antiquity and its relation to contemporary life. She further explained the origins of antique words that we use today, the role of mythology, and how historic concepts relate to modern life and the role they play in our current everyday lives.
AHS Students at the Film Festival
13 Dec 2017On Wednesday, December 6, AHS students from grades 8 and 9 with their homeroom teachers attended Tbilisi 18th International Film Festival. Students watched several prize-winning Georgian short films. Event was closed by the speech of the director of the Festival. One of the eight-graders, Luka Katamadze said - “Even though main idea of some of the movies was hard to understand, I really liked most of the short films, because of the style, music, and beautiful scenes of the movie.

AHS tour at Georgian National Museum
06 Dec 2017On Tuesday, November 21 nineteen students of Grades 8 and 9 with Mr. Giorgi Tchumburidze and Mr. Joseph Blake toured the Georgian National Museum as a continuation of their World History classes. Accompanied by a museum guide, they explored Georgia’s ancient gold, silver and precious stone treasures and coins, the development of man from the Paleolithic to Neolithic Age, coupled with medieval armory, Georgian period clothing, and the Soviet Occupation of Georgia Exhibition.
