American High School Diploma

On April 17, the Vice President and other representatives of AdvancED, a North American schools accreditation association, arrived in Georgia from the US. At the Ministry of Education and Sciences the guests attended a meeting on the topic of recognition of the American High School diploma. From the European School Irma Barbakadze, American High School Director and Natia Tevzadze, Academic Director of American High School, also attended the meeting, where the parties came to an agreement to start the recognition process. In the end, the guests visited the European School. Our FabLab impressed the visitors, who recommended to become STEM certified.

Tour in Italy

American High school students from grades 8-9 travelled to Italy during spring holidays. AHS students accompanied by the Dean Natia Tevzadze, teachers and parents visited the most famous museums and fascinating architectural monuments in Florence and Rome.

ES Basketball Team is a Winner

On March 22, The ES basketball team held a friendly game with IGS team. In a tense match the ES team won 87 - 55 over IGS and made fans happy. 

European Youth Parliament

On March 23-25, the ES students from American High School, together with delegates from Tbilisi and different regions of Georgia, attended a regional session of European Youth Parliament in Batumi. The main theme of the conference was: Protection and Development of the European Cultural Heritage. EYP supports global awareness of youth and development of collaboration and presentation skills among delegates.

Astro Camp in the US

On March 3rd -10th, with the initiative of American High School, 19 students from the European School, accompanied by ICT teacher Davit Nozadze and FabLab teacher Guranda Gogoladze, visited Astro Camp in Clover, Virginia. Through STEM based activities offered at the Camp student’s broadened their knowledge in Physics, Chemistry, Robotics and Astronomy and developed essential skills for the jobs of the future. Astro Camp staff and the ES teachers developed strategy for future collaboration. Sharing of information received at the Camp with the rest of ES STEAM team will support developing joint innovative projects.

SRAA Tbilisi Basketball Classic 2019

On February 14th -16th basketball teams from international schools of Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia competed at SRAA Tbilisi Basketball Classic 2019, organized by QSI Tbilisi. The European School team became the second place winner after the final match where the New School team scored just 1 point more than our team.

World Read Aloud Day

Georgia has celebrated World Read Aloud Day already fourth time this year, so did the European School. AHS students read their favorite parts of the books to each other. During the whole day different aloud readers were interchanging at the school library. Teenagers tried to share their thoughts and emotions received from the books of the favorite authors. The day motivated our students to celebrate the power of words and creates a community of readers.

Lecture on“The Knight in the Panther Skin”

On January 31, AHS grade10 students attended a literary evening held at the Thinking Academy where TSU professor Zurab Kiknadze delivered a lecture on “The Knight in the Panther Skin” and discussed a topic -“Two kingdoms of the Knight in the Panther Skin and the end of the story”. It was very interesting for 10 graders to meet the professor as they have just started learning the poem of  Shota Rustaveli in the second semester. At the end of the lecture, the speaker answered students’ questions. The students expressed their wish to attend other evenings of “The Knight in the Panther Skin” literary cycle as well. 

Presentation of AHS Student Projects

On January 28-29, the annual presentation of American High School student projects was held. Various interesting and important topics were discussed by 11 graders: “Helping Coma Patients in Georgia” “How to Make Handicapped People Valuable Members of the Society?”, “World Politics and Natural Resources”  “Prejudice and Discrimination”, “Opportunity Cost of AP”, “Nanosatellites -CubeStas” and etc. The school community and specially invited guests attended this event: English Language Programs Coordinator Lika Gumberidze, British Council Teaching Centre Manager Stephen Shelley, Cultural Affairs Officer Julius N. Tsai,  Cultural Programs Coordinator Daniela Tran.
