Student Support Center
The purpose of the Student Support Center is to nurture students’ physical and psychological development. Student Support Center was established to ensure that all students have equitable access to learning, opportunities for achievement, and the pursuit of excellence in all aspects of their educational programmes. At the European School we realize that as well as academic achievement, the physical and psychological development of students is crucial to a positive and enriching school experience.
Student Support Center is dedicated to teaching teenagers how to learn and work in any environment, help them achieve social success and gain necessary skills for self-realization.
The Student Support Centre (SSC) comprises the following: Learning Support Programme, English Language Learners (ELL,) Psychological Counseling Service, Speech and Language Therapist, School Health Service, Georgian University Counseling, Overseas College Counseling, ESTV, and English Recitation Program.
Learning Support Programme
The European School provides additional subject classes to support student learning.
Learning Service encourages and supports student-led learning through a range of elective lessons.
With a parent’s consent, teachers and students fill out relevant Student Support Center paperwork to identify areas where students need extra help. Based on the data provided, an individual and group schedule is created.
The one-on-one and group lessons are conducted both in the first half of the day, as well as later on, after classes.
English Language Learners (ELL)
The English Language Learners (ELL) Programme, supports students whose primary or secondary language is not English, enabling them to develop the necessary reading, writing, speaking and listening skills to be successful in school.
During the process of admission to the European School, students will be identified as needing ELL support. The ELL teachers work in close co-operation with homeroom teachers.
The English as an Additional Language teachers work with individuals or small groups of children who have little or no English competency. Students receive intensive regular support for several months. The English Language Learner (ELL) Programme is designed to help students become confident English learners both academically and socially. ELL classes take place during school hours as inclusion support or sheltered lessons.
English Recitation Program
Teaching through drama, learning dramatic literature, processing of knowledge, creative application of knowledge supports not only the process of learning a language but helps to develop different skills.
