Ana Maria Iakobidze - From European School to Top UK and US Universities

I am happy to be accepted to top universities in the UK and the US – University College London (UCL), University of Bristol, New York University (NYU), and University of Southern California (USC) – to study business.

I am still waiting to hear from other leading universities and I have not made the final decision yet. From the options I already have, I am still choosing between UCL and NYU.

In addition to having the highest possible predicted grade in the IB DP (45 points), I think my extracurricular activities helped my applications stand out (winning math and STEM Olympiads, founding the Debate Club, etc.) because American universities pay special attention to student activities beyond the classroom.

As the Student Parliament Chair at the European School, I developed leadership skills. Business schools look for leadership qualities in prospective students, so I tried to showcase them in my application essays and interviews.

With research, I managed to narrow down my choices and applied to a handful of universities I genuinely liked. I am grateful for receiving a high-quality education at the European School as it prepared me to continue my studies at the world’s leading universities.

I would like to thank the European School’s University Counseling Office for guiding me throughout the application process.
