Sandro Kobakhidze awarded the winning teams of the European School Football Championship

The European School Football Championship concluded after a month of exciting matches held across three age categories, recognizing not only the winning teams but also the tournament’s standout individual players. The championship, dedicated to the memory of our tragically deceased student Iviko Chelidze, was organized in a playoff format and brought together students, teachers, and guests throughout the competition. The final matches were attended by European School students and teachers, members of Iviko Chelidze’s family, and a special guest from the Georgian Football Federation — the head coach of the Georgian U-17 national team, Sandro Kobakhidze. Together with the Head of the European School Sports Department, Aleksandre Maisuradze, he participated in naming the tournament’s best players and awarding the champion and prize-winning teams.
In the 6th/7th grade category, the MYP 7th grade team became champions after winning the final in a penalty shootout. Aleksandre Bakanidze finished as the tournament’s top scorer, while Archil Turdziladze was named Best Goalkeeper. The Best Player award went to Anri Lagvilava.
The 8th/9th grade championship was won by the MYP 9th grade team. Their leader, Yusuf Tarberdiev, was named the tournament’s Best Player. Dani Dassin received the Top Scorer award, while Giorgi Bezhuashvili was recognized as the Best Goalkeeper. In the 10th/11th grade category, the American School 10th grade team claimed the championship title after a dramatic penalty shootout victory in the final. Giorgi Geladze was named Best Player of the tournament, Nikoloz Lobzhanidze received the Best Goalkeeper award, and Titian Gerber finished as the competition’s undisputed top scorer.
