VinSpring National Selection 2012

European school IB Diploma Programme year I students Mr. Vakhtang Katamadze and Levan Kipiani had an honour to participate in the VinSpring National Selection 2012 presented by European Youth Parliament (EYP) of Ukraine.

Vinnitsya is located on the banks of the Southern Bug, in central Ukraine. The event officially lasted for 3 days but as international delegates we arrived day before conference started and departed day after the session ended.

100 delegates (80 Ukrainians and 20 foreigners) and around 30 officials for the discussion of the most essential European problems under the general topic: “Naturally connected”. Delegates were divided into 8 groups, every group with its own topic of discussion and topic of resolution. Our topic for resolution was:

“Energy efficiency is at the heart of the EU’s Europe 2020 Strategy for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth and of the transition to a resource efficient economy. Energy efficiency is one of the most cost effective ways to enhance security of energy supply, and to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases and other pollutants. In many ways, energy efficiency can be seen as Europe’s biggest energy resource”.

Our delegates were rewarded with lots of love from whole organizers team… And principal reward was the certificates of the honored delegates.

Let’s see how Vato Katamadze speaks about their experience:

We gained whole bunch of new experiences which will help us to improve our academic activity but main benefits were that we saw main differences between IB student approach to subject and typical approach. Also for me beneficial fact was that I, Vato Katamadze assured myself that I was capable of being competitive with other international students who were much more experienced in this sphere than we were. Me and Levan were the youngest delegates on whole session and impressed everyone with our activities and skills. And I can assure that we will show and present ourselves even much better on next EYP-Session.“.
