Mathematics Day at the European School

Within celebrations of the IB’s 50th anniversary, the European School organized Mathematics Day on April 26, 2018.

The day was filled with different activities and extraordinary classes: “Real Life Problems Involving Percentages,” “Field Work in Mathematics,” “Summative Lesson Using Smart Technologies,” “Discovering Golden Numbers,” etc. All open lessons were research-based.

IB students participated in interdisciplinary classes, linking Mathematics with Chemistry and Theory of Knowledge (TOK). Students tried to make connections between Mathematics and the real world.

In the end, our special guest, Professor Hamlet Meladze, delivered a lecture – “Mathematics without Formulas” – for our students.
