Unlocking the PYP: A Coffee Morning with PYP Parents
PYP parents joined us for a warm and engaging workshop-style coffee morning, “Unlocking the PYP,” led by Head of PYP and PYP Coordinator Tina Gugushvili.
Designed as an interactive workshop complemented by a presentation, the session invited parents to explore how the IB Primary Years Programme shapes learning at European School and how its essential elements come together to support students as inquirers, thinkers, communicators, and caring members of their communities.
Through discussion and practical examples, parents explored the Learner Profile, Approaches to Learning skills, Key Concepts, knowledge, student action, and transdisciplinary learning, gaining a clearer understanding of how different subjects and real-world contexts are connected within the PYP.
The workshop also introduced the six Transdisciplinary Themes that guide learning across the programme and concluded with a practical walkthrough of ManageBac, helping parents better understand how they can follow and support their children’s learning journey.
The coffee morning also included a special mention of 20 years of European School and an introduction to our new school logo, reflecting our values, community, and vision for the future.
It was a meaningful morning of conversation, collaboration, and connection, bringing PYP families together to deepen their understanding of the programme and strengthen the connection between home and school.
