Use of Hiking Equipment
20 Feb 2019Last week, representatives of WeSki Georgia organized a team building game for the European School students from 6th grade. Participants of this activity learned how to use properly hiking equipment: setting a tent, using a sleeping bag, compass, and other necessary equipment.

Presentation of Georgian Program Student Projects
12 Feb 2019Student Projects presentation was held at the Georgian Program of the European School. History teacher -Marine Melikidze’s students from grade 6 presented their individual and group, 2-month projects to the teachers and parents. Themes of the projects were selected by students according to their interests: Calendar of my class; Are computer games good or bad?; My family history; Books yesterday, today, tomorrow; Me and my body; Korean culture; Healthy lifestyle; Don’t litter!; Western Georgian national cloths; Tour to Kakheti; My Megrelia. The projects presentation was held at the school library and was attended by coordinator Inga Toloraia and invited teachers: Maia Melikishvili, Maia Tsenguashvili.

Introduction to Bacteria
09 Feb 2019On February 7, during the homeroom class and the following Russian language lesson, grade 3b homeroom teacher Marika Mchedlidze introduced a new topic- Bacteria. Later, the theme was summarized in Biology Lab together with colleagues Manana Jhamurashvili and Asmat Akhvlediani. During the lesson, teachers showed a video about bacteria, conducted different activities, and provided insight into the functions of helpful and harmful microbes. They informed students about the importance of hygiene measures in avoiding bacterial diseases. In the end, kids examined bacteria through microscopes.

Debates on George Orwell “Animal Farm” and Totalitarianism
01 Feb 2019On January 31, Georgian Program students from grades 7-8 debated on George Orwell “Animal Farm” and Totalitarianism. They discussed important topics as violence, ideology and repressions, power and illusion of happy life. Debates were moderated by Keti Gotoshia, Temo Tvauri, Giga Kikalashvili and Taso Gobianidze. At the end of the debates, the students expressed their wish to hold similar meetings more frequently and discuss various topics.

Greening the Environment
29 Jan 2019Raising responsible global citizens is one of the missions of the European School. Our students explore global issues from early childhood. On January 23, during the homeroom class, G1g students learned about air pollution and effects of greening the environment. They engaged in problem solving and took action to improve the environment. After the lesson, students visited the school green house, planted different plants and learned how to take care of pot plants.

A New-Year Art Workshop
26 Dec 2018Department of Arts at the European School conducted a special workshop where teachers and administration of our school had an opportunity to relax, have fun and express their creativity by painting New-year themed artworks. In the end, participants were surprised by the outcome and were excited to appreciate each other’s beautiful creations. They expressed their wishes to have more such events in the near future.

A Premiere of the motion picture "Once in Tbilisi or after 1000 years"
23 Dec 2018On December 23, Pushkin's Club at the European school presented a film "Once in Tbilisi or after 1000 years". This project was initiated and executed by Ms. Natalia Mikeladze and Ms. Eliso Adamia. The roles in the film were played by our pupils from the Pushkin's Club. The event was attended by the filmmakers, the actors and their parents, the school management team and invited guests. The film received rave reviews from the audience and our little actors and production team were commended for their great work.

Fun Sports Games between 1st Graders
14 Dec 2018On December 14, fun sports games were held involving our Georgian Program 1st graders. Participants showed their athletic abilities and achievement motivation. Children did their best and demonstrated an adequate level of physical readiness.

Sumo Bot Challenge
12 Dec 2018On December 11, European School FabLab held "Sumo Bot Challange", the first-ever robot-sumo competition in Georgia. 6th Graders from our school were competing against each other. Their main engineering challenge was to program the robot in a way so that it was able to find its opponent and push it out of a circle (in a similar fashion to the sport of sumo). Several areas were set up by our teachers and only the best participants made it to the final. Under fierce competition, the robot with the most accurately programmed bot won and became "SumoBot of the year 2018".
