International Mother Language Day
23 Feb 2023To mark International Mother Language Day on February 21st, the European School hosted various events. MYP students met the Famous author Nodar Dumbadze’s daughter and learned unknown details about his books. PYP students, inspired by Lela Tsutskiridze’s book Alphabet Angels, created their alphabet letters. To promote linguistic and cultural diversity as well as multilingualism, MYP students held an assembly where they expressed deserved respect to mother tongues in seven different languages: Chinese, English, French, German, Italian, Russian, and Ukrainian and made the day memorable.

Turkey-Syria Earthquake
15 Feb 2023In the last few days, the ES community launched a collection drive to help people affected by the massive earthquake along the Turkey and Syria border. A call out for priority items has led to donations of warm clothing along with sleeping bags, pillows, and blankets. Essentials such as baby food, diapers, and sanitary products have also been received. Transportation of humanitarian aid was ensured by the Turkish Embassy.

Safer Internet day 2023
06 Feb 2023The ES, committed to ensuring a safer digital environment for its students, celebrated Safer Internet day 2023. Students and teachers from IB, AHS, and Georgian Programs came together for better internet and held awareness sessions on topics such as Cyber Hygiene, Internet and Safety, Cyberbullying, and Cybersecurity. They discussed the online issues that matter to everyone, created E-book, conducted activities in the Bookcreator app, etc.

The European School Student Trip to European Institutions
30 Jan 2023On January 7-13, the European School students participated in the international program: Georgian Youth in Global Affairs, organized by Young Diplomats of Georgia and the European Alliance for Georgia. Attending a seminar on Georgia’s EU membership prospects with Mr. Romain Strasser (Head of Intercultural Dialogue at the European Parliament, the Board Member of EAFG), making presentations on world issues at European Commission, meeting with the Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) and the senior decision-makers of the European Committee of Regions, visiting the Belgian Federal Parliament, the Belgian Senate, the Parlamentarium, the visitors' center of the European Parliament, and the House of European History was a great insightful opportunity to step into the EU institutions to witness from the inside how they operate.

Happy New Year

The European School is the most media literate school of the Year!
25 Dec 2022The European School two teams became the first place winners of the competition organized by the Media Development Foundation (MDF) with the support of the Public Diplomacy Office at NATO. The Most Literate School prize, laptop and tablet was awarded to our teams. The ES winning projects - online game SmartOwl2023 and the board game Night of Trolls will support the development of student media literacy and information literacy skills. The winning teams are: American High School grade 12 students’ team(Ekaterine Gorgadze, Aleksandre Shonia, Sina Abdolahzade, Nikoloz Paniashvili) supervised by the Computer Science teacher Shorena Abesadze and MYP grade 10 students’ team ( Ana Gelenidze, Elene Gamkrelidze, Mariam Bezhuashvili) supervised by the Design teachers Guranda Gogaladze and Neli Bobokhidze.

#TEDxIBEuropeanSchool
03 Dec 2022On November 30th, the European School hosted its 9th TEDx conference - TEDxIBEuropeanSchool. Nine speakers from Georgian, AHS, and IB programs shared their Ideas Worth Spreading. From environmental issues to healthy lifestyles, sustainable agricultural practices, translation difficulties, performing art, risk-taking, decision-making, expressing opinion freely, and appreciation for history, each area allowed us “Being More” of ourselves through self-development.

Literary Week
22 Nov 2022Literary Week brought students, books, authors, illustrators, and publishers together in the European School and enabled children to experience the magic of books. Children met Lela Tsutskiridze - an author of Martico’s Apple Tree, and hung apples made in FabLab on the three showing their wish for peace. George Lapiashvili read small parts from Zaira Arsenishvili’s book Short Kato’s Adventure, conducted a workshop to inspire young imaginations, and thought how to make miniature books. On Astrid Lindgren’s birthday anniversary, students came dressed up as Pippy, Karlson, and Ronja. Students discovered latest books of their favorite and new authors displayed by Sulakauri Publishing, Diogene Publishers, English book, Karchkhadze Publishing at a book festival. Literary Week taught children how wonderful a good book can be and encouraged lifelong love of reading.

Literary Week at the Europsan School
19 Nov 2022Diogene publishers recently published a series of children’s books, Mary Poppins and presented to the European School students during the literary week. Mary Poppins, written by the popular author Pamela Lyndon Travers was translated by Ia Koroshinadze. She met the European School students, talked about the magical world of Mary Poppins, introduced the main characters and explored their adventures. Children shared their impressions with the guest. Within the literary week, the ES students held an exhibition where they exposed paintings about the magical nanny, watched the film adaptation of Mary Poppins, and arranged discussion about it.
