CAS/SL Conference "Recreational Fishing and Conservation of Wildlife"

On Thursday, October 3, at 4 PM, Lado Sakvarelidze, a founding member of Fly Fishers International, delivered a presentation titled “Recreational Fishing and Conservation of Wildlife” for IB DP/CP 11th-12th grade CAS/SL students. In this session, Mr. Sakvarelidze shared and discussed how recreational fishing can be practiced in a sustainable manner to support wildlife conservation and the protection of natural habitats. He highlighted best practices and emphasized the importance of maintaining ecological balance through responsible outdoor activities. Additionally, Mr. Sakvarelidze addressed the ethical responsibilities involved in recreational fishing and conservation efforts. He explored how individual actions can significantly impact ecosystems, emphasizing the role we all play in preserving biodiversity. Students also had the opportunity to learn about global conservation efforts and how they could contribute to these important causes through their own Service Learning (SL) and Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) projects. The presentation enriched students’ understanding of sustainability, environmental ethics, and the connection between individual actions and global environmental challenges, while providing practical insights into how they could take meaningful action within their communities and beyond.
