Welcome from the IB Leadership

Message from the Head of IB Programmes

It is an honour to welcome you to European School.
European School has been an IB World School since 2009. We now have an increasingly diverse student population in the Primary Years Programme (6-11 year-olds), Middle Years Programme (11-16 year-olds) and Diploma Programme (16-18 year-olds).
True to the IB philosophy, our core business is to not only instil in our students the knowledge that will make them better learners and better people, but to also equip them with the skills they need to grow and develop in a successful, happy way.
Our priorities include further raising the quality of instruction, student achievement and student wellbeing, as well as optimizing parental involvement. We understand that great instruction alone will not yield the results we desire for our students. That is why we pay close attention to the overall learning environment as well. We strive to maintain a positive classroom climate and culture, an environment where students feel safe and look forward every morning to a day of productive learning.
Our key asset is a team of teachers, with proven lifelong learning skills, who truly care about students and do not believe that quitting on them is ever an option.
Our students are also exposed to a multitude of opportunities: Interaction with experts in various fields, international competitions, study trips, sports, arts, exchange programmes, conferences, service, bespoke university counselling, to list a few.
Beyond the grades and certificates, our hope for all our graduates is for them to become confident individuals, responsible global citizens and effective contributors who do not forget to turn back and help the next one in line, after reaching their destination.
We look forward to meeting you in person and sharing with you other aspects of what we offer that words alone may not describe accurately.

Welcome to European School.

Welcome letter from the Head of Middle and Primary Years Programmes

I am delighted to welcome PYP and MYP students and families, both new and returning, to European School! The 2021-2022 academic year is a “Rtveli” year. Rtveli is a traditional harvest celebration in Georgia. This year both programmes PYP and MYP will reap the results of finalized self-evaluation periods and be ready to start the next 5-year cycles of programme development after hosting remote Evaluation Visits. The PYP school has the remote Evaluation visit on 17,18,19 November 2021. The MYP school’s remote evaluation visit is scheduled for 4,5, May 2022.

We are very proud to offer the IB PYP for students in Grades 1-5 and MYP for students in Grades 6-10. Our PYP prepares students for success within the MYP, and the MYP prepares students for success in the Diploma Programme and Career-related Programme.

European School is proud of the PYP and MYP staff who are eager to collaborate together to develop systems and provide high-quality teaching and learning. This approach supports students’ conceptual development, constructs meaning, and makes sense of the world.

We devote our professionalism to the interplay of asking, doing and thinking, to fully implement IB Standards and Practices that lead towards open, democratic classrooms. We empower our students for a lifetime of learning, independently and in collaboration with others. It gives us the opportunity to prepare a community of learners to engage with global challenges through inquiry, action, and reflection.

It is an exciting time to be a part of ES, and we are looking forward to a fantastic year of learning and growing together. I am very pleased to have the honor of working with the ES community and am looking forward to a year of “Rtveli”!

 Head of PYP and MYP
