Dear friends, European School students, parents, and teachers
European School Prepares for CIS Membership
CIS – The Council of International Schools is a membership community committed to high quality international education and to promoting global citizenship. CIS unites more than 660 schools and 475 colleges from 110 different countries. CIS member schools have many benefits including guidance and support from CIS consultants, access to new international educational practices and support in implementation, and facilitation in connecting students with leading universities around the world.
European School completed stage 1 and stage 2 of the CIS membership process in 2015. Stage 3 included a visit of a CIS (Council of International Schools) School Services and Evaluation Officer. Mr. Alan Scott was welcomed to European School on March 1st for a two-day visit. Mr. Scott, an experienced educator who has been leading various international schools for 40 years, evaluated European School’s readiness to become a CIS member school.
Mr. Scott met with the school community: its leadership team, administration, staff members, and committees of students and parents. The meetings were very productive and Mr. Scott was able to gain a greater understanding of the operation and mission of European School.
Mr. Scott gave positive feedback on the operation of European School and the work the school has put in towards CIS membership. The final decision on European School’s status as a CIS member will be made in the near future.
