Visit to Mtskheta

On Thursday, November 16th, the PYP fifth grade classes went to the ancient city of Mtskheta as part of their Civilization unit. They toured the Samtavro Archaeological Site, which includes many uncovered houses and tombs. After their tour, they were given the chance to be archaeologists themselves and uncover the secrets hidden under the dirt. They measured, observed, and recorded their findings in their own investigation journals. The students then visited the Jvari monastery overlooking Mtskheta. The students ended the field trip with a nice picnic. Many students were excited because they had never been to Jvari before and they all admired the view from the top of the mountain. When the students returned, they were able to discuss what they had seen and how Georgia has changed since over the centuries.
