Celebrating Cultural Diversity and Global Citizenship in Grade 2
Grade 2 students proudly celebrated Cultural Diversity and Global Citizenship by presenting their summative projects for the unit “Who We Are.” Students explored their unique identities and the rich diversity within their classroom community.
Working both individually and collaboratively, they presented their cultures, languages, customs, histories, and traditions through creative posters, traditional clothing, and delicious cultural foods they shared with their peers. The celebration also featured joyful performances, including three songs about pride, belonging, and celebrating differences, highlighting unity through diversity.
On the same day, volunteer parents joined their children to present aspects of their own cultures, further enriching the learning experience and strengthening the home-school connection. Students also made churchkhela, a traditional Georgian dessert, enjoying a hands-on activity that linked local traditions to global understanding.
Through this meaningful celebration, Grade 2 students demonstrated the IB learner profile attributes of open-mindedness, communication, and caring, understanding that while we are all unique, we share many similarities and together form one global community.
