Stand With Ukraine

The European School Student Parliament, in moments of danger and grief for the Ukrainian people, plays an active role in expressing solidarity. To provide help and support to Ukrainians, students collected humanitarian aid: food, hygiene items, medical kits, and supplies that are most needed in Ukraine. Thanks to the Georgia Red Cross Society and Meama company, these supplies will be delivered to Ukraine.

World Autism Awareness Day

April 2nd is World Autism Awareness Day. For the ES, it is vital to create an inclusive and caring environment for all. We support children with autism to lead full and meaningful lives. The MYP students once again proved to be responsible and caring citizens on Friday, April 1st when beneficiaries of Children of the Sun visited the European School. Guests and hosts spent lunchtime together and had a lot of fun. Not only did MYP students engage in the campaign, but students and staff from other programs also. They bought different souvenirs and symbols associated with this day to raise awareness about autism in the school community. In the end, the ES administration presented gifts to visitors and planned to conduct joint activities regularly. 

U.S. Ambassador to Georgia Kelly Degnan in the European school

On Thursday, March 31st, the American High School hosted an event marking 30 years of diplomatic relations between the United States and Georgia with visiting honorable guests: U.S. Ambassador to Georgia Kelly Degnan and the Attaché for Culture and Education Mr. Christopher Anderson.

The Career-related Programme

Today, on March 28th, Ms. Vedrana Pavletic - the Development and Recognition Manager for the IB in Africa, Europe, and Middle East region, paid a courtesy visit to the European School. The purpose of the visit was to officially congratulate the school on the authorization of the Career-related Programme (IBCP). The guest met the Principal and the leadership of IB programs and discussed matters related to the implementation of the IB programs at the ES. The visit also included a school tour led by the IB students.

World Down Syndrome Day - 2022

March 21st is World Down Syndrome Day. This year, the campaign #IWantSocks aims to support the Ukrainian people. In recognition of World Down Syndrome Day, the European School students raised 3000 GEL by purchasing colorful socks. 10% of the money raised from the campaign will be transferred to the Ukrainian Down Syndrome Association. Additionally, the students have the opportunity to send purchased socks to Ukrainian people. 

The universe and space

Under the unit ‘how the world works’, grade 5, Georgian A students learned about space and the universe. Students read unit related articles, learned scientific vocabulary, conducted research and collected data. They had the opportunity to meet Ramaz Sartania, who is a geographer and the head of the Diploma Programme at the European School. Ramaz shared his knowledge and experience with the students. He asked and answered inquiry-based questions and showed beautiful visuals of the universe and space. Children were thinkers and communicators and enjoyed the meeting with the guest speaker. 

Personal Projects Exhibition

February 15th saw the culmination of all the hard work put in by Year 10 MYP students with their Personal Projects Exhibition. Once again, we saw an amazing array of varying ideas generated almost six months of work. Projects ranged from educational resources, computer games and applications, Neurobiological projects, startups, online shops, travel guides, tours, photo albums, and many more. 21 MYP students presented their diverse projects to fellow students, parents, staff, and other guests virtually, using Google meets. The Personal Project Exhibition was well attended. The personal project is a yearlong project in which students follow their interests, use their talents, and apply the skills they learned in the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP). Project topics may be creative or community need-based and ideally, they should reflect a student’s personal interest. The students gain valuable experience while developing their personal projects an becoming IB learners.

Meeting with Nicholas Chinchaladze

PYP Grade 3 students had an online meeting with Nicolas Chinchaladze, Head Of Mars Society Georgia.  Mr. Nicolas delivered a presentation about the Solar System and provoked students' interest in the new transdisciplinary theme ``How the world works".

Conference

On January 26-28, National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement held its annual conference online, via the Zoom platform. Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, various educational institutions, local and international partner organizations participated at the conference.
