PYP 4th Graders Go Green, to Get Our Globe Clean

PYP 4th graders are inquiring into the unit about the environment. During the unit the students carried out various types of projects, such as testing biodegradable items in indoor compost, planting flowers, investigating cafeteria waste, testing the level of air pollution, making compost ingredients, collecting paper for the recycling center, making art pieces from recyclable materials, etc. Another project was to collaborate with 9th graders, who shared their experience and taught our class how to make paper by reusing the old paper. Later our 4th graders shared their newly acquired knowledge to their peers in the other class.

American High School European History Class Visits the Fine Arts Museum, Tbilisi

Competition “Lego City”

Georgian Program and PYP students from grade2 and grade3 participated in a project “Lego City”, initiated by MYP student Zuka Kevanishvili. Within the project 8 groups created cities with Lego breaks during Robotics classes. The project was supervised by Robotics teachers: Irina Kochlamazashvili, Irma Marghania and Marianne Mosaad. On December 12, all Lego cities were exhibited at London Avenue.

Meeting with Nana Janelidze

On December 11, within an integrated lesson, Georgian program students from grade 5 met film director Nana Janelidze. The lesson was dedicated to comparison of fiction writing and movie, correspondingly “What did Iavnana do?” by Iakob Gogebashvili and a movie with the same title by Nana Janelidze.

Ski Camp in Bakuriani

Students under the age of 15 at the European School are offered to join a camping trip at the sporting ski school “Our School – IOSKI” in Bakuriani to learn how to ski and gain unforgettable experiences.

Lecture about Game Theory

On December 8, the European School hosted Professor Amiran Amroladze ,the Dean of Mathematics and Computer Science Faculty at the Free University. He delivered a lecture about Game Theory and gave an opportunity to students to enjoy an adventure in math’s labyrinths. Later he proposed the plan for future collaboration between the European School and the Free University.

Mathematics Workshop

On December 7, Mathematics expert, Tbilisi State University Professor Givi Nadibaidze held a workshop for math’s teachers at the European School. Aspects related to lesson planning and assessments were discussed at the workshop.
