World Down Syndrome Day

World Down Syndrome Day is celebrated on March 21st. Inspiring slogan of this year -Leave no one Behind, motivates everyone to support children with Down Syndrome. The ES students hosted beneficiaries of Children of the Sun. Acknowledging that all people with Down Syndrome must have opportunities to be included on a full and equal basis with others, the ES students integrated guests in different activities. They constructed robots together, conducted chemistry experiments, drew colorful socks, organized flash mob 46+1 and played fun sports games. The day left everyone full of emotions and impressions.

Visit to Bookstore

The ES students from Georgian Program, grade 9b visited the bookstore Books in Vake, where they read literary works of Georgian and foreign writers. The students translated pieces from Guram Dochanashvili short novels in English, Russian and Turkish languages before the visit and read them in the bookstore. In addition to literary works of popular Georgian authors, the students received an information about foreign bestsellers as well.

Meeting with Inventor

On March 18, Fabx Talk event was held at Fablab for the students from grades 9-10. A young inventor Giorgi Gabarashvili presented his inventions such as virtual glove and Iron Man costume to the audience. The goal of the monthly Fabx Talk event is to inspire and motivate our students towards innovations and STEAM education.

Finalists of Kings Olympiad

On March 13, certificates of different achievements were awarded to more than 50 students of the ES who participated in autumn session of Kings Olympiad. Our school took part for the eighth time in Kings Olympiad which is a competition in Georgian and English languages and Mathematics for students from grades 2-12. The goal of the Olympiad is to improve students’ knowledge and skills and to identify skillful, talented students. The ES students demonstrated remarkable results across the country.

First Aid Training Course

Within the non-formal education project, WeSkiGeorgia conducted First Aid training courses for the European School students. The goal of the training course is to instruct students on how to preserve life by carrying out series of emergency first aid procedures. Trainees learned basic first aid steps, treatment of injuries, rescue breathing and characteristic traits of shock.

Mother’s Day

The ES students from grade1 celebrated the arrival of spring and Mother’s day on March 1st . Kids sang songs, danced and shared Mother quotes with their moms to make them feel special.

Visit to Occupation Line

The European School students together with the Director of National Library Giorgi Kekeklidze visited students from the villages adjacent to the occupation line: Mereti and Koshki. The ES students arranged a charity market few weeks ago. Money collected from selling handcrafts and cakes was spent on purchasing computers and books for children from the border neighboring villages visited yesterday.

Use of Hiking Equipment

Last week, representatives of WeSki Georgia organized a team building game for the European School students from 6th grade. Participants of this activity learned how to use properly hiking equipment: setting a tent, using a sleeping bag, compass, and other necessary equipment.

Presentation of Georgian Program Student Projects

Student Projects presentation was held at the Georgian Program of the European School. History teacher -Marine Melikidze’s students from grade 6 presented their individual and group, 2-month projects to the teachers and parents. Themes of the projects were selected by students according to their interests: Calendar of my class; Are computer games good or bad?; My family history; Books yesterday, today, tomorrow; Me and my body; Korean culture; Healthy lifestyle; Don’t litter!; Western Georgian national cloths; Tour to Kakheti; My Megrelia. The projects presentation was held at the school library and was attended by coordinator Inga Toloraia and invited teachers: Maia Melikishvili, Maia Tsenguashvili.
