November 14 is the birthday of a famous Swedish writer Astrid Lindgren. To celebrate this day, pyp students virtually organized the Story Time and Movie Time.  Students looked at The “Tomten”, “Karlsson on the Roof”.  Students painted and colored portraits of Karlsson, Peppi and Tomten.

14 November is World Diabetes Day

MYP Grade 7 Science class worked hard to raise awareness about diabetes. They shared their posters. They are going to record the video and send it to other graders. Students conducted research to show their research skills and scientific reasoning skills. They looked into whether there is a correlation between age and diabetes.

World Kindness Day

11 Nov 2020

World Kindness Day is an international observance on 13 November. It was introduced in 1998 by the World Kindness Movement, a coalition of nations' kindness NGOs. It is observed in many countries, including Canada, Australia, Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates. Wonderful Visual Art posters from MYP grade 7 students.

European School Signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Vakhtang Bochorishvili Clinic

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed by the European School Director Sophio Bazadze and the Head of Vakhtang Bochorishvili Clinic David Gadelia. This document implies close cooperation between the school and the clinic during pandemics. On the way to combat the novel coronavirus COVID-19, the European School continues to support the health of students, teachers, and staff. The clinic will provide the school community with a special offer on health care services if needed. Vakhtang Bochorishvili Clinic will offer the European School community emergency medical assistance and patronage throughout curing the disease and testing to detect the virus. Additionally, special offers will be provided on diagnostic services.

Equilibrium

The European School supports knowledge, education, and development and participates in various literacy projects. Within the Equilibrium project of the National Parliamentary Library of Georgia, the ES students collected children’s books and delivered to the writer Giorgi Kekelidze who plans to create a personal library for Tika Tedoradze who tragically lost her family members during the natural disaster happened in Khelvachauri.  We received children’s books from Bakur Sulakauri Publishing House as well. Charity united us all: the school, the library, and the publishers.

Grade 4 PYP students finished working on their first unit of inquiry ‘Who we are”

As part of their summative task, Grade 4B students created a video about the importance of being open-minded, global citizens. Students understood that our cultures are part of who we are and make us unique and special. In the video, grade 4B students emphasize the importance of respecting others despite our differences and encourage others to learn from other people’s perspectives and points of view. Our IB students are globally minded, caring citizens of the world.  

Healthy Lifestyle

During their first unit Who We Are Grade 3B students were learning about healthy lifestyle and how choices we make every day affect our lives. For their final project students were asked to prepare something to show how they understood the central idea and to promote healthy lifestyle in PYP. Some students recorded songs, others prepared presentations and posters. Several students took videos of them exercising and eating healthy food. Masha, Najaf and Daniel decided to make a video to share with the whole PYP community and help kids become healthier. They all did an excellent job and managed to show their creativity and knowledge.

U.N. DAY ASSEMBLY

The United Nations officially came into existence on 24 October 1945. Today (26.10.2020) at 8:40 we had a "shared time" morning check-in with lower grades. Our main aim was to briefly introduce them to the UN and its principles. We wanted to see if they would be interested in the UN and in participating in any of the events planned by the UN, as it would be very beneficial for them and their portfolios.
