PYP assembly

On February 18, PYP assembly was held at the European School. The assembly was mainly led by Student Council members. The first thing students shared was the meaning of “International Tree”, which can be found in the PYP hall area. The idea of the “International Tree” is to unite teachers and students from different countries and cultures presented at the school. Grade 5 students then informed attendees about the PYP Exhibition including the main goals and aims of this event. The most amazing part of the assembly was grade 4's performance about signs and symbols. They performed the song “Soon we’ll be found” both singing and using sign language which they learned during the unit- “How we express ourselves”. Later students had the opportunity to talk about the upcoming “International mother tongue day” which will be celebrated February 21st. At the end of the assembly, Mr. Bacho (Art teacher) invited students to participate in the CITYART world festival.

Snow Volleyball Tournament

On February 11th to 13th, an international snow volleyball tournament was held in Bakuriani. Teams from different countries - Turkey, Lithuania, Armenia, Belgium and Italy participated in the tournament. The ES DP student from grade 12 Mohamadreza Marashi played in a team together with two Georgian players and became a winner of the tournament.

PYP Exhibition- Parent Orientation Session

On February 11, PYP Exhibition parent orientation session was held for all Grade 5 parents. The main goal of the meeting was to inform parents about the details of PYP Exhibition and discuss with them parents’ roles and responsibilities in students’ projects. The Exhibition is the culmination of the Primary Years Programme. Students synthesize the essential elements of the PYP and share them with the whole school community. It is an opportunity for students to exhibit the attributes of the IB Learner Profile that they have developed throughout years passed in the program. Students are given flexibility in their choice of real-life issues or problems to be explored and investigated. They explore the local and global issues, act to solve it and then prepare a presentation for the community to view.

Parent – Teacher Conferences

The focus of the Parent – Teacher Conferences on 31 January was mainly made on discussing with parents students’ progress in the first semester. The conference was organized in the school main hall. The format of the conference allowed all PYP teachers and parents to meet and discuss the achievements of the students from grades 1-5. At the meeting following teachers were available: homeroom teachers; single subject teachers of ART, Music, Physical Education, ICT, Georgian language, French, Russian, German; speech therapists.

Christmas Gifts for the Children at Iashvili Hospital

Before the holidays started, PYP kids, parents and teachers donated to the charity action organized by the PYP. We prepared packs of presents with candies, stationery and clothes. Our charity team went to the Iashvili Children's Central Hospital with all of the gifts and gifted them to the kids with leukemia. They were happy and sent big thanks to the European School students. Together we create our future full of joy and love!

Training by Microsoft

On December 26, Microsoft's official representatives in Georgia conducted training for the teachers of the European School about using educational technologies. Microsoft Georgia, with the support of its Educational Business Development Manager, Mr. David Tchiaberashvili, formulated a special training course, which consists of three main parts: using OneNote app throughout the teaching process; implementing Microsoft Teams for improving teamwork and coding using Minecraft. The approach and methods of Microsoft for applying various technologies to the learning process have always been a top priority for the European School and will always be.

Grade 4 Trip to Georgian National Youth Palace

For the past six weeks, our fourth graders have been researching the history of exploration and its impact on society. They have learnt about famous explorers like Marco Polo, Christopher Columbus, John Cook and many others. Students also gained an understanding of using longitude and latitude to find locations on the map and were able to track journeys of explorers they have been researching about. However, the most engaging for them has been the topic about space exploration. Students have been actively researching various topics like galaxies, black holes, famous astronauts, planets, etc.

Christmas Exhibition

European School hosted honorable guests on its pupils' Christmas exhibition opening - the famous painter and winner of Shota Rustaveli prize, Keti Matabeli and Nino Chitaishvili, the main scenic artist of Nodar Dumbadze Professional State Youth Theatre. The exhibition brought together the artworks of our Georgian Program and IB Programme students. Our talented artists used various techniques to create impressive artworks, collages and compositions.

Artifact Museum

As part of the summative assessment of the unit "Where We Are in Place and Time", Grade 1 students set up an artifact museum. An artifact museum is a display of various items that reveal information about students’ family histories and how these artifacts have affected their lives. Each student had a display station, where they stood and presented their artifact, showing their understanding of the unit’s central idea (how histories enable us to find our place in society).
