European School Delegation at Model UN Conference

On January 26-30, the European School delegation attended the MUN conference at the University of New York in Prague. Their visit was organized by Kant’s Academy. The school delegation, led by the Academic Director Sophio Bazadze, consisted of six students from three different programs of the school-Georgian, IB and AHS. On the last day of visit, the delegation visited the Embassy of Georgia in Czech Republic and met the Ambassador Zaal Goksadze.

Unprecedented Cooperation Between the European School and the British Council

The British Council and the European School have been working together since November 2017 on a major project focused on English language teaching and learning planned over the next three years. The British Council is the recognized leader in English language teaching and has a unique background in teacher development as well. New Opportunity for the European School Students to Learn Chinese Language!

The European School is providing its students with a new opportunity to learn Chinese Language. Our Chinese Language teacher is Yaru Gao, a Confucius Classroom teacher at the Tbilisi Open University. She is determined to enable our students master their basic knowledge in Chinese, improve their basic listening, speaking, reading and writing skills, develop their ability to communicate in Chinese, and inspire them to learn more about Chinese culture and history.

"Einstein School" - A New Platform at the European School

In cooperation with the European School, the Kant Academy is creating a unique platform for 8-12 years old students to help them improve their intellectual abilities and learning skills and develop emotional intelligence. The program is based on modern techniques, including practical exercises, team competitions and field trips. A bonus program - "Parents Coaching" is also being put in place to provide counselling meetings for parents of the participants to ensure proper communication with children and deal with difficulties in appropriate ways. The European School Students Support their Peers!

The European School students are no strangers to community service. They often engage in large international charity events and sometimes, organize charity days on their own. In December 2017, they organized a Winter Bazaar, sold their handmade crafts and raised money which was spent on different charity activities. One of their follow-up activities included visiting the Day Care Centers in Tbilisi on January 25, 2018. In the name of our student body, the European School staff members and Sophie Nonikashvili, the Chairman of the European School Parliament, provided the beneficiaries of the Center with warm winter shoes. The children were so excited that they did not want to let Sophie go.

Success Achieved in Chess

Giuli Alikhanashvili, the head of the Chess Club at the European School, obtained a winning place in the Senior Chess Championship Tournament in Georgia, consequently confirming her participation in the World Championship that is planned to take place in November 2018.

Collaboration of European School, Free University and Agricultural University of Georgia

On January 22, the Science Department initiated the signature of the Memorandum of Understanding between the European School and Agricultural University of Georgia. Collaboration will be very beneficial for our students as they will be given an opportunity to participate in the university programs, competitions, conduct researches under the supervision of the university scientists and prepare for international Olympiads. During the visit, the representatives of Agricultural University met students from grades 10-11 and informed them about different programs and future perspectives of a newly established collaboration.

CLIL Essentials Program for the European School Teachers

Steven Hindlaugh, a professional teacher trainer started CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) Essentials Program at the European School on January 8, 2018, and conducted an 8-day training course engaging fifteen teachers from our school. Training course is designed for different subject teachers to help them communicate effectively and use English confidently in their respective classrooms.
