American High School Senior Project Presentations 2016
American High School Senior Project Presentations 2016
On Saturday June 4th the Class of 2016 concluded their high school careers with the presentation of their Senior Projects!
The Senior Project graduation requirement was added in 2015 and offers students an opportunity to hone their research skills, academic writing habits, and presentation abilities. The project is a year -long thesis-driven research paper on a topic of students’ choice. Students work closely with an academic advisor the whole year while they gather data, pour through secondary sources, and craft 5000 word papers. The culmination of the project is the presentation of their work through 15 minute presentations with a Q&A session at the end.
The topics our seniors chose spanned a wide range of academic fields and even included two projects with immediate practical applications for European School:
Tamuna Andguladze—“Foreign Direct Investments in Georgia”
Mariam Berdznishvili—“Dissociative Identity Disorder”
Mako Beriashvili—“Street Harassment: Why Is It a Problem? How Can We Solve It?”
Sopo Chkonia—“In Which Ways Was Propaganda Used in Presidential Inauguration Addresses?”
Tekla Demtrashvili—“Tsatsloba and Stsorploba”
Giorgi Javakhidze—“Linear Programming for Parking Space Optimization. Solving the Problem by Mathematical Modeling”
Tiko Kakabadze—“In which ways the 9th April Contributed to the Collapse of Soviet Union and Independence of Georgia”
Ninuca Kanchaveli—“Dream Interpretation from a Freudian Perspective”
Tornike Khubuluri—“Efficient Distribution of School Buses, Optimization of Bus Routes”
Bacho Samadashvili—“Regeneration Limits”
Elene Suladze—“Physical Principles of the Electromotor”
Luka Vadachkoriya—“Emotional Intelligence and Society”
Notable audience members included Kakha Jamburia, Head of the Georgian Langauge and Literature Group of the National Assessment and Examinations Center (NAEC), who had one word to sum up the seniors’ work: “impressive.”
We are all incredibly hard of the work the Class of 2016 has put in both to their Senior Projects and to all of their studies over the years. We wish them good fortune in their academic endeavors to come and look forward to the presentation of Junior Projects this upcoming Saturday June 11th!
