Human Rights Week-2022

Human Rights Week is a week of events organized by the American High School to commemorate the anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Activities during the week are designed to celebrate and explore our rights and generate student awareness and knowledge about why human rights matter.

The week started with a virtual event, an online lecture, “The story of Eleanor Roosevelt and the forces that shaped whom she became”, delivered by Jeffrey Urbin – Education Specialist at the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Presidential Library. AHS students had the opportunity to attend Tamar Avaliani’s lecture: “Human Rights and Council of Europe” and meet the speaker Elene Janelidze – Program Officer from Human Rights House Tbilisi who presented the topic: “Milestones in Human Rights History” inviting students to reflect on the achievements we have made and the challenges we face in the building of a more justice society. AHS students participated in the debate “HUMAN RIGHTS FOR GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP” and the student conference “STAND UP FOR HUMAN RIGHTS: GET INSPIRED TO TAKE ACTION” to reflect, protect and promote human rights as part of their identity.
