On Thursday, November 16th, the PYP fifth grade classes went to the ancient city of Mtskheta as part of their Civilization unit. They toured the Samtavro Archaeological Site, which includes many uncovered houses and tombs.

Gardenia, is a beautiful place … It’s like a small preservation that helps plants and trees to grow in a normal and suitable atmosphere. We, grade 4 had a trip to see the stunning plants, trees and flowers. The colors were magical! The students had fun seeing that rare beauty and taking photos.

6 graders from MYP visited the Educational Center of Tbilisi Zoo on the 17th of November 2017. They were accompanied by their homeroom teacher Maia Kikvadze and teacher of Individuals and Societies Davit Sidamonidze.

Dr. Irma Barbakadze, Head of the American Education Department - European School is currently on a one-year visit to the United States after which she will be awarded an additional degree of secondary and higher education expert.

In education, research has shown that teaching quality and school leadership are the most important factors in raising student achievement. For teachers and school leaders to be as effective as possible, they continually expand their knowledge and skills to implement the best educational practices. Professional development is the only strategy school systems have to strengthen educators’ performance levels.

On November 22nd ,2017 “European School” welcomed Famous Georgian Composer Vazha Azarashvili on his 80th anniversary. In the event introduction, Vazha Azarashvili briefly and with humor talked about his history of his work and then performed his own compositions. Also, in his honor, school teachers performed few of his songs.

On Friday, November 17th, PYP Grade 1 and 2 went on a field trip to the Animation Museum dressed up as various Disney characters. Students had the chance to see their favorite toys, costumes and photographs brought from Disneyland, they watched footage of an annual carnival held in Disneyland. Also learned about Disney’s long history.

Children in the Kindergarten of European School, within Transdisciplinary theme “Self -management” learned about healthy food, vitamins, how to take care of themselves and etc. The children took the role of cooks and prepared various dishes and biscuits.

On November 21st, 2017,Sophio Bazadze, the Academic Director of the European School, and Davit Lortkiphanidze, the General Director of Georgian National Museum signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between the European School and Georgian National Museum. The purpose of which is mutual cooperation in the sphere of education and rising cultural awareness among students.
