PYP Assembly - Choose Kindness

The European School  Primary Years Programme’s (PYP) counselors recently organized a heartwarming Wellbeing Assembly for students in grades 1 through 5. The theme of the assembly was “Choose Kindness,” and it aimed to instill in our young learners the values of empathy, compassion, and the significance of simple acts of kindness.
The Wellbeing Assembly was an engaging and educational experience for our students. It centered around the core concept of kindness – what it means and the various ways in which we can express it. The objective was not only to talk about kindness but to inspire the students to actively practice it in their daily lives. One of the highlights of the assembly was the creation of a “Gratitude Wall”, which  allowed students to reflect on the positive aspects of their lives and acknowledge the people and things they are thankful for. The “Kindness Jar” activity  not only showcased the power of random acts of kindness but also inspired students to take an active role in spreading positivity within the school community. By encouraging our students to “Choose Kindness,” we hope to foster an environment where compassion and empathy are second nature.
This event was supported by the ICT teacher and Georgian B teachers. To celebrate Digital Citizenship Week, PYP students took initiative to spread awareness and promote positive online interactions. They recorded videos and shared them during the PYP Assembly. Grade 5D Student Tekla Kiria was awarded for participating in the International Kids Coding Competition and getting the certificate for the Outstanding Project.
Learning the Georgian language through various educational resources is more fun. First, second and third grade students created pictures that began to tell stories that were shown in the assembly. Through a special application, the students’ drawings began to move and it made the whole project fun and engaging for our learners.

The whole event was a true celebration of two important elements – team spirit and student agency.
