Meeting with UNICEF

IB DP hosted a representative of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) on the 24th of October. UNICEF works to ensure every child is protected, healthy and educated, focusing on the children left behind. The guest shared valuable information about ongoing international programs and how interested students can participate. UN Sustainable Development Goals and service learning were important topics for discussion.  Developing a network among international organizations and providing volunteering opportunities to students represent one of the priorities of IB DP CAS Program. 

Meeting with AIESEC

IB DP hosted representatives of the international youth organization AIESEC on the 19th of October.  AIESEC is a community of young people, passionately driven by one cause: peace and fulfillment of humankind’s potential. Representatives of the organization held the presentation followed by a Q&A session. As the result, DP students increased awareness about the importance of service and social responsibility and were provided with multiple volunteering opportunities. Developing a network among international organizations and providing volunteering opportunities to students represent one of the priorities of IB DP CAS Program. 

Meeting with university admissions counselors

Meeting with university admissions counselors is a valuable experience that helps students make important decisions about where to apply and why. Recently, the European School University Counseling Office arranged information sessions for high school students where they met representatives from IE University and Bard College. It is noteworthy to mention that guests from both universities were ES graduates. Mariam Katsanashvili - Manager in Global Markets (Central and Easter Europe) at IE University and Salome Vacheishvili- Admissions Counselor at Bard College Berlin, provided students with detailed information about academic programs, the application process, scholarships, campus life and shared their academic experience that added extra value to the meeting.

Clean Hands – Healthy Future

On Global Handwashing Day, the European School students hosted Irma Kenciashvili - Director of the Infection Control and Prevention Department of American Hospital Tbilisi. The guest discussed the role of handwashing as an effective tool to prevent diseases, conducted fun activities, and distributed flyers to enhance students' knowledge about hygiene. The European School doctor held awareness sessions and showed hand hygiene videos to primary program students.

Art Education – inter-culturally

Within the project Art Education – inter-culturally, the delegation of art educators from Lucerne and Zurich art colleges and Ilia State University, together with the representatives of the Ministry of Education of Georgia, visited the European School. The project is intended to enrich the experience of future art teachers, advocate art education in schools and deepen cultural exchange between Georgia and Switzerland.  

Story "Doesn't matter big or small"

In PYP programe inquiry into the unit of Relationships between people, the grade 1 students invited the guest speaker,  8 years old Natalie Paniashvili to present her original story "Doesn't matter big or small" which is about to be published in Magic Dragon magazine this fall. The story will help our students go deeper into their inquiry while helping them discover one of the secrets of strong relationships.

Celebrating its 15th Anniversary #ES15thAnniversary #ESMarathon2022

Celebrating its 15th anniversary, the European School held a marathon and welcomed both teachers and students at Lisi Lake on Sunday, October 2nd. Marathon Day raised the community spirit of our faculty and students, who demonstrated their love for and commitment to the European School. Participants enjoyed beautiful weather, nice views, and a fun race with its excitement and competition.

Club Fair 2022!

Extracurricular clubs are important part of student life at the European School, and today’s clubs reflect the wide range of interests of 21st century students, with clubs dating back to 2007 to new clubs founded this year.  The 2022 Club Fair was held in the school courtyard, with students visiting the various club tables to learn more and sign up. From the Astronomy Club and the Chinese Club to the Felt Club and many more, there is truly something for everyone!
