New Year Charity Fair

The European School continues to organize fundraising events to support disabled children. The school hosted the New Year Charity Fair” Give with love” on Friday, December 15, 2017. The entire school community along with the partner organizations, such as Georgia Red Cross Association, social enterprise "Babale", organization "Parents' Bridge", was involved. Teachers, students and parents exhibited handmade crafts and homemade sweets in the school yard. Despite the cold weather, acts of kindness, hot chocolate, beautiful crafts, students’ performances, New Year’s fireworks, happiness in the eyes of the disabled members of the Paraorchestra, and the involvement of the European School community along with the rest of the people who brought enthusiasm and love made the day even more special.

Georgia Educational Technology Conference

On December 16-17, Georgia Educational Technology Conference was held at Hotels &Preference Hualing Tbilisi. The goal of the conference was to inform interested parties about current technology trends, share best practices and experiences of using technology in teaching-learning among teachers, experts, university representatives, companies from educational technology sphere. The following European School teachers and a student attended the conference: Maksim Iavich (Cybersecurity ethics for teachers), Shorena Abesadze(Solving Math’s problems by using technologies), Davit Nozadze and his student Zaal Chumburidze( Coding for everyone).

European School Students-Winners of Essay Writing Competition

Iv. Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, along with the Association of German Language Teachers, organized an Essay Writing Competition on December 11, 2017. The goal of the competition was to showcase different and diverse aspects of Georgian-German relationships and attract young authors and students in this regard.

Trip to Free University

In December, European School students from grade 8 (8a and 8b) together with their teachers Khatuna Kapanadze, Zurab Beria and Irina Kochlamazashvili went on an educational trip to Free University. They visited university library, museum and Chemistry, Physics and Engineering laboratories.

European School-Part of eTwinning Community

Last year, ICT teacher Davit Nozadze engaged his students in the eTwinning project “Let’s visit a Country 2”. The European School team, composed of the following students: Elene Jokhadze, Elene Phanjakidze, Lizza Kvizhinadze, Mariam Okhriashvili, Salome Zedgenidze and Tornike Kubaneishvili, partnered with one of the Greek schools. The project gave an opportunity to our students to learn more about the historic and cultural places of Greece; To develop 21st Century Skills; To share information using ICT, PPT presentations, video, video conference; To meet online with Greek peers using English for communication; To organize a tourist itinerary; To be aware of the importance of tourism for economy of Georgia and most importantly, to gain new friends. Recently, the project of our school was awarded a European Quality Label.

Discussion about Adolescent Violence

On December 14, European School students participated in a discussion about adolescent violence. The discussion was initiated by Georgian Language teacher Lela Melikishvili. The Class, directed by Ilmar Raag showcased at the event became a catalyst of long discussions between teachers, parents, students. The event has caused many persons to ask “Why these things are happening?” “What causes such violence?” “How to prevent adolescent violence?” The adolescent process can be relatively easy and smooth if parents learn how to communicate effectively with their children, if teachers, students won’t be indifferent about children conflicts at school-concluded students.

IB MYP and DP Students Join UN-lead Activism against Gender-Based Violence

Students from IB MYP and DP Programmes decided to unite their efforts and join the UN-led 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence Campaign. The theme of the campaign for 2017 is “Orange the World. Leave no One Behind: End Violence against Women and Girls.” In order to speak up against violence, students from MYP and DP worked collaboratively and made a short film. During the course of filming, they decided to speak out in their native languages to condemn violence against women and spread their message loud and clear to everyone around the world.

American High School European History Class Visits the Fine Arts Museum, Tbilisi

On Tuesday, December 12, nine American High School Grade 10 European History students with their teacher Mr. Joseph Blake, and Homeroom Teacher Mr. Giorgi Tchumburidze toured the Fine Arts Museum near Liberty Square. The guided tour included ancient Georgian gold jewelry, historical religious relics, icons, church vestments, copies of famed frescos from various Georgian Orthodox churches, and ancient Greek and Roman statues. Nana Kvernadze stated “The attractions were great.”

Nini and Dimitri Dumbadze's exhibition "Migration"

The European School hosted Nini and Dimitri Dumbadzes’ art exhibition on December 13-14, 2017. The exhibition theme was migration. Since childhood, Nini and Dimitri have been painting and participating in different art contests, winning various art prizes and awards.
