Presentation of FabLab for Diplomatic Corps and International Organizations

On December 19, the European School had the honor to host diplomatic corps and representatives of international organizations in Georgia. Ambassadors and officials from embassies and international organizations were invited to our school for the presentation of newly opened innovations laboratory FabLab, which is the first precedent of Industrial Innovations Laboratory within the school in Eastern Europe. The guests were shown unique technological and educational abilities of our FabLab and became acquainted with the STEAM learning curriculum, which gives pupils access to the most advanced technologies in order to acquire 21st-century skills.

Grade 4 Trip to Georgian National Youth Palace

For the past six weeks, our fourth graders have been researching the history of exploration and its impact on society. They have learnt about famous explorers like Marco Polo, Christopher Columbus, John Cook and many others. Students also gained an understanding of using longitude and latitude to find locations on the map and were able to track journeys of explorers they have been researching about. However, the most engaging for them has been the topic about space exploration. Students have been actively researching various topics like galaxies, black holes, famous astronauts, planets, etc.

Christmas Exhibition

European School hosted honorable guests on its pupils' Christmas exhibition opening - the famous painter and winner of Shota Rustaveli prize, Keti Matabeli and Nino Chitaishvili, the main scenic artist of Nodar Dumbadze Professional State Youth Theatre. The exhibition brought together the artworks of our Georgian Program and IB Programme students. Our talented artists used various techniques to create impressive artworks, collages and compositions.

Charity Event "Bring Warmth"

Our American High School students joined the charity campaign initiated by the Georgia Red Cross Society. During several days, students from different grades took part in charity activities at “Galleria Tbilisi” where Christmas campaign called “Bring Warmth” was held. At the shopping mall, Red Cross society put up “Red Cross corner”, where people could learn about stories of sole beneficiaries, share their warmth with these people and make donations. With these donations, a new social center for elderly people will be built. Our pupils worked very hard and did their fair share of contribution to this campaign.

Fun Sports Games between 1st Graders

On December 14, fun sports games were held involving our Georgian Program 1st graders. Participants showed their athletic abilities and achievement motivation. Children did their best and demonstrated an adequate level of physical readiness.

Sumo Bot Challenge

On December 11, European School FabLab held "Sumo Bot Challange", the first-ever robot-sumo competition in Georgia. 6th Graders from our school were competing against each other. Their main engineering challenge was to program the robot in a way so that it was able to find its opponent and push it out of a circle (in a similar fashion to the sport of sumo). Several areas were set up by our teachers and only the best participants made it to the final. Under fierce competition, the robot with the most accurately programmed bot won and became "SumoBot of the year 2018".

The Caucasus University Football Tournament

Students of the European School are participating in a football tournament, which is organized by the Caucasus University. Within the tournament, teams from public and private schools of Tbilisi are competing against each other for the trophy. Despite fierce competition, our school's team successfully qualified for the finals and made it to the Top 8.

Educational Conference About Technologies

On December 8-9, a 2-day educational conference about technologies was held at Teacher's House. Teachers of the European School were actively participating in this event. Shorena Abesadze, Head of the Department of Information Technologies and Innovations at the European School, spoke about teaching programming using computer games, and David Nozadze, our ICT and robotics teacher, gave a presentation about "Teaching Robotics at School". Within this event, an exhibition was organized where our pupils proudly displayed achievements of their robotics club to a wider audience. 

School Fair 2018

On December 7-8, European School participated in School Fair 2018, which was held at Expo Georgia. The exhibition, the first of its kind in Georgia, was designed to provide a single platform medium for the education sector in one dedicated space and create a venue where all participants in the industry could come together.
