Week Dedicated to Earth Day

The European School students celebrated Earth Day with different activities: the first graders recycled waste paper and made Easter eggs with the handmade paper. They also sorted waste and identified no biodegradable materials. Students from grade 2 made posters and created Earth tree. The third graders assessed essays written by fourth graders -Letter to Earth. They also planted flowers in the school greenhouse. At the final event the students from grade 9 awarded certificates and pot plants to the participants of the Earth Week.

Charity Activity

On April 24, the European School students visited World Vision children’s day care centers. They collected money from selling their handcrafts and bought educational resources for the beneficiaries of the center who became happy with Easter presents: board games, maps, globe, books and Arts resources.

Supporting Elderly

Within the Easter celebration, several charity activities were planned at the European School. Georgian program students from grade 5a visited old people’s daycare center supported by the Red Cross organization, presented sweets to elders and held a joint concert.

Easter Charity

The European School planned traditional Easter charity activities. The ES students collected food for elders and orphaned children. They visited the Youth Centre, old people’s homes and orphanages and delivered collected food to the beneficiaries.

Easter Exhibition

Georgian Program students from grades 2-3 arranged an exhibition of decorative Easter eggs. The exposition was organized by Arts teachers Lana Barabidze and Tamar Jakeli. The students exhibited collages, wooden eggs created in FabLab, artworks made from plasticine and ceramic and created the school atmosphere that embodies Easter spirit.

Easter Stuff at FabLab

The European School started preparation for Easter. In the FabbLab students made modern and unusual Easter eggs using technologies. Georgian Program students from grade 3 had an interdisciplinary lesson in the FabLab, where the artworks created at Art lesson were converted into digital files and applied at wooden material with a laser cutter. Easter egg activities were fun and enjoyable for all the students.

Festival Golden Fleece

Sophia Bazadze, the Academic Director of the European School awarded certificates of achievement to the students from grade 3a who successfully participated at the cultural festival Golden Fleece.  Supervised by the homeroom teacher Eka Berdzenishvili, the students performed a drama act Apple of Discord.

Let’s Make Environment Greener!

On April 22, the European School students, with an initiative of the Greens Movement of Georgia, planted willow, laurel, spruce trees in the schoolyard and greened the environment. The representatives of the Greens Movement met PYP 5th graders, working on environmental projects and gave useful advice. The first grade students had a lesson about reusing of waste products. PYP students from grade 5 staged a shadow play that considered environmental threats.

American High School Diploma

On April 17, the Vice President and other representatives of AdvancED, a North American schools accreditation association, arrived in Georgia from the US. At the Ministry of Education and Sciences the guests attended a meeting on the topic of recognition of the American High School diploma. From the European School Irma Barbakadze, American High School Director and Natia Tevzadze, Academic Director of American High School, also attended the meeting, where the parties came to an agreement to start the recognition process. In the end, the guests visited the European School. Our FabLab impressed the visitors, who recommended to become STEM certified.
