Reviving Tradition: Georgian Calligraphy Masterclass and Student Competition
On May 21, 2025, the European School / American School of Advanced Studies had the honor of hosting an inspirational masterclass and lecture led by representatives of the First Georgian International Diaspora Educational Academy( Beyond Borders Diaspora Alliance for Georgia) and The First International Association of Georgian Calligraphy.
We were delighted to welcome the President and Founder of the organization, Mrs. Tika Svanidze, Vice President Lana Latsuzbaia, and master calligrapher Mariam Razmashvili.
The event was made possible through the dedication and initiative of our English Language and Literature teacher, Mr. Ilia Tsetskhladze, whose efforts brought this cultural celebration to life. The masterclass was followed by a student calligraphy competition, which showcased creativity, precision, and passion.
Events like this not only strengthen national identity but also revive and celebrate the rich history of the Georgian alphabet and traditional writing techniques. They inspire diligence, creativity, and appreciation for the art of calligraphy—planting seeds for future generations to carry forward this beautiful cultural legacy.
