History
The American School of Advanced Studies (ASAS) was founded in 2013 as a school within the larger European School. It was founded with the intent of providing Georgian and international students with a pathway to American higher education through rigorous curricula and excellence in standardized test preparation.
In 2013, the American School of Advanced Studies became a candidate for U.S. accreditation with the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools through AdvancED and a member of the College Board. In the winter of 2015, the American School of Advanced Studies hosted an external accreditation review team and was granted full United States accreditation on June 25, 2015. In February 2020 and again in February 2025, the American School of Advanced Studies successfully hosted a reaccreditation team and was granted accreditation for another five years. American School of Advanced Studies is the first school in the region to be accredited under the North Central Association. In 2021, the American School of Advanced Studies received accreditation from the National Centre for Educational Quality Enhancement for four years.
American School of Advanced Studies distinguishes itself with its wide curricular offerings and partnerships, as well as its small class sizes, highly qualified faculty and staff, and a caring environment that promotes collaborative work and individual growth. All ASAS curricula are aligned with the US Common Core and Next Generation standards. American School of Advanced Studies boasts 23 College Board-approved Advanced Placement (AP) curricula.
Since 2020, ASAS has officially offered AP Seminar and AP Research courses, enabling students to earn the prestigious AP Capstone Diploma upon successful completion of these courses, along with additional AP coursework.
Since 2023, American High School has proudly operated as the American School of Advanced Studies, a distinction earned through its rigorous honors programs in Math and English. ASAS students are consistently challenged—not only by the wide range of AP courses it offers, but also by its demanding regular classes that encourage them to excel and reach their full potential.
