Developing the research skills of students is our priority. Research-based learning is an integral part of students oriented learning. American High School students held a presentation of their research projects at the European School library. Research papers analyzed and reflected different aspects of social life from perspectives of various disciplines: History, Economics, Cultural Science, and Political Science. Within the projects, the AHS students gained research competence, increased confidence to start and manage research, and enhanced life-long skills.

On January 26-28, National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement held its annual conference online, via the Zoom platform. Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, various educational institutions, local and international partner organizations participated at the conference.

On December 23, 2021, American High School students exchanged Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2022 wishes. They created holiday cards on behalf of Georgian literary characters. The authors of the four best cards Nia Khachapuridze (9A), Luka Zhamtuashvili (11B), Kristine Bazerashvili (10) and Niki Bezhuashvili (12A) were awarded with special gifts.

On December 16th, the European School hosted Mr. Gábor Mikecz - Commercial Counsellor at the Embassy of Hungary to Georgia and Mr Dávid Sazbó - Member of the Hungarian Delegation.

On December 17, 2021, American High School students presented the Fall semester issue of the AHS newspaper “The American Times". The presentation was conducted in a hybrid format. It was broadcasted online and several students attended it in the European School library.

On December 6-10, Human Rights Week, initiated and organized by the American High School student Anastasia Tskvitinidze, was conducted at the European School. Within the week, public lectures, discussions, meetings were held on actual themes: Violence Against Children, Importance of the Human Rights Day, Development of Human Rights, Human Rights in Literature, Gender Equality in Literature, Right to Education for Children from Occupied Territories of Georgia.

On November 18, 2021, in the framework of the cycle of lectures and seminars organized by the American High School, the teacher of Georgian Language and Literature Ketevan Gardapkhadze and American High School student Kato Gorgadze, 11B, held a lecture about world of antiquity in Galaktion Tabidze’s works as a celebration for his birthday anniversary. This lecture encompassed the analysis of traditions concerning antiquity recipitations during the 20th century in Georgian poetry (The Blue Horns) and also the depth, diversity, and originality of Galaktion’s antiquity symbols. On the basis of the principles of the use of antique symbolism, the speakers organized antique terms presented in Galaktion’s poetry into a couple of groups and discussed them in an interesting literary review.

On December 3, 2021, in the framework of the First Friday Forum, an education specialist from the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum (NY, US) delivered an online lecture for American High School students on the topic Eleanor Roosevelt and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The speaker discussed the life and career of Mrs. Roosevelt and President Roosevelt’s efforts to create the United Nations. Speaker talked about the public life of Mrs. Roosevelt, her leadership position at the United Nations, and her instrumental role in drafting the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The meeting ended with a Q & A session.

Social responsibility is an essential value for the European School. There are numerous avenues the school takes to impact society positively. This time, we visited the school in Mereti - the village adjacent to the occupation line and delivered a projector, whiteboards, and books to make the learning process more effective and engaging for the local students. Recently, the European School sent a projector to Abkhazia public school #7 in Senaki. These charity activities are conducted within the National Library project Equilibrium with the support of the writer Giorgi Kekelidze.
