Jewish-Georgian Memorandum

“Israeli Center for Young Leaders“ and the European School signed a memorandum of understanding. Exchange programs planned for Israeli and Georgian students supports establishing stable and beneficial collaboration between the youth of two countries. Youth plays an important role in developing friendship, solidarity, and peace in the world. At the meeting, students presented both countries and performed Israeli and Georgian anthem.

Museum at the School

Georgian National Centre of Manuscripts presented an educational project at the ES and exhibited collection items: manuscripts created in three writing systems used to write the Georgian language as well as Latin, Greek and Italian manuscripts. Among others, an exact copy of the Vani Gospels - the manuscript composed at the Queen Tamar of Georgia’s request was exhibited. The guests showed 3D installation demonstrating a unique heritage of Georgian and foreign manuscripts. Within the project, the students met the Doctor of Philology Eka Dughashvili who held a lecture about unique manuscripts.

Our Basketball Team at the Basketball Championship

The ES Basketball team became the first team in A group at Tbilisi Basketball Classic 2020 to qualify for the quarter-final where our players won games against the QSI team and the team of Givi Zaldastanishvili American Academy. The final match was tense and exciting. Two players from the ES team left the field due to injuries. This affected the final result- the ES lost 74-79 against QSI.

Valentine’s Day

On February 14, with the supervision of Nana Mukeria, the 9th graders of American High School presented an hour of poetry for Valentine’s Day. The event was held in the school library where the students read several poems about love. At the end of the event number of prizes and surprises amazed the audience.

Young successful businessman

On Wednesday, February the 12 th , Lasha Barbakadze, a young successful businessman, visited the American High School as an invited guest speeker. 10th and 11th graders listened to the tips and recommendations on how to become a successful businessman, what obstacles are there to managing a business, as well as the pros and cons of starting your own business at an early age. The lecture was interactive, very interesting and informative for the students.

The Austrian Ambassador’s Visit to the ES

On November 11, the Ambassador of the Republic of Austria to Georgia Arad Benkö visited the European School. The honorable guest was welcomed by the school administration and the students with the most popular Austrian names-Hannah and Moritz. Portraits of famous Austrian writers, composers and artists were exhibited in the Main Conference Hall together with translated Georgian versions of books by Sigmund Freud, Hermann Broch, and Stefan Zweig. The aim of the event was to learn more about Austria and Austria-Georgia relations. Teachers and students presented various projects related to Austria. Mr. Arad Benkö addressed the ES students, talked about important activities of the Austrian Embassy in Georgia and answered students’ questions. The event ended with students’ musical performances.

Webster University Visit

On February 5, Webster University Chancellor & Managing Director Vasilis J. Botopoulos and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Susie Michailidis visited the European School. The guests informed ES students about offered academic programs, a variety of courses in different disciplines and campus facilities of Webster-Athens. In the end, the visitors had the school tour.

Quality of Education and the European School

The ES was visited by Kakha Eradze-the Director of the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement and the delegation from the Centre. The guests had a working meeting with the school director and the Head of IB Programmes. They discussed the quality of education, CIS standards at the ES and specifics of IB programmes. The representatives of the Centre had a tour around the school, its laboratories, FabLab, Mac Room, met students and received information about innovative projects.

New projects

On Friday, 17 th January, the eleventh-grade students of American High School presented projects about various problematic topics. Amongst these projects, they discussed burning issues such as post-operational care, illegal migration into Georgia, homeless animals, gambling, depression in the youth,etc. The presentations were attended by students of American High School, parents, and teachers. The works were assessed by a special jury.
